Treaties and Collective Security
Treaties are agreements made between different states. There are many different types of treaties including defence treaties and extradition treaties, for example. Collective security is the idea that countries are more able to project hard power as part of an alliance than would be possible on their own. This example we will explore the example of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation. We will look, briefly, at the reasons for the formation of NATO, it's organsiation and structure, before attempting to answer the question 'NATO: Guardian of Peace or Bellicose Bully?'
