The Key Concepts of IB Global Politics
The IB Global Politics course is structured around a series of key concepts that we can use to help us understand the world around us. Many of these will be topics that we are already familiar with - so it should be simple to create definitions for each concept.
In groups, create a shared definition for each of the key concepts. Keep it short - a maximum of three sentences for each definition:
-
Power
-
Sovereignty
-
Legitimacy
-
Interdependence
-
Justice
-
Human Rights
-
Liberty
-
Equality
-
Development
-
Globalisation
-
Inequality
-
Sustainability
-
Peace
-
Conflict
-
Violence
-
Non-violence
How difficult was it to create definitions for each of the concepts? In groups, arrange the concepts into a hierarchy of difficulty based on how difficult you find each definition. Be prepared to share your definitions with the class.
Choose one of the definitions and prepare a 1-slide PowerPoint presentation in 10 minutes to be presented to the rest of class. Your slide should consider what you understand by the concept, any difficulties associated with the concept and a contemporary political situation related to your concept.
Below are the definitions for the key concepts as estblished by the IB. Make sure that you are fimiliar with them, you will need to, and be expected to, be able to use these concets with accuarcy in assessment tasks.
